Shaun Vorster - Extraordinary Associate Professor, University of Stellenbosch Business School

 

Dr Shaun Vorster has served as Extraordinary Associate Professor at the University of Stellenbosch Business School since 2014, and is Senior Advisor at Expo 2020 Dubai. His focus is strategic planning, innovation and sustainability. He also serves as a judge for the WTTC 'Tourism for Tomorrow' Awards and has supported the World Tourism Forum Lucerne since its inception. 

For more than a decade, Shaun served as Special Adviser to the South African National Minister of Tourism, in which capacity he was, inter alia, a driving force behind the inaugural T.20 Tourism Ministers’ Meetings (Tourism Ministers from G20 countries). He was also extensively engaged in the activities of the UNWTO, WEF's Aviation, Travel & Tourism Global Agenda Council, WTTC, IATA, UNEP and the UNFCCC, among other international bodies. 

Shaun is a published author on climate change, sustainability, green growth, travel and tourism, low-carbon aviation, scenario-planning and strategy. He holds a PhD in Political Science.  In 2013, Shaun was a finalist and runner-up for the international Association of MBAs (AMBA) ‘Student of the Year Award’ – the AMBA accredits programmes from over 200 top business schools in more than 70 different countries – and he received the University of Stellenbosch’s Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences’ prestigious medal for top postgraduate student.
