Talent Management
It is indispensible for every company today and in the future to foster young talents by developing their strengths and abilities – the very reason why talent management has been chosen as one of the five main strategic commitments of World Tourism Forum Lucerne.
Talent management consists of different parts:

1. Business, Government, Academia and Finance
1. Business, Government, Academia and Finance
Talent Management of the World Tourism Forum Lucerne is a priority on every CEO’s and manager’s agenda in Business, Government, Academia and Finance. Therefore, the best talent development programme of the industries will be awarded with the Talent Dedication Award. On top of this, the business leader’s expectations will be collected in a survey in cooperation with our Talent Management Partner Korn/Ferry.
2. Next Generation
The Next Generation programme is a commitment to future leaders in travel and tourism. World Tourism Forum Lucerne is the only global event in the field of travel and tourism where integrating tomorrow’s industry leaders is given a high priority. Next Generation offers an ideal opportunity for CEOs and chairpersons to have their best talents forge important business contacts with peers and current leaders in the field. Participants of the Next Generation will not mere accompany their senior colleagues, they will be fully integrated into the Forum Programme and play an active role.
Share some of your free time with your selected young talent, who will benefit personally by becoming motivated to work for you in future. Use this unique opportunity to foster your talents in due time because Lucerne is the place to connect with current and future leaders.
Candidates for Next Generation must fulfil the following criteria:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience at a multinational tourism company.
- Candidates are usually younger than 35 years.
- Responsibility for either several employees or for a considerable budget.
- Candidates always accompany a senior leader working for the same organisation.
- Registration is only possible after the enrolment of a senior colleague.
- The registration fee for the Next Generation Programme is CHF 950.-
Besides the participation of the Next Generation in the Forum, a survey will be conducted with them. Best knowing the Next Generation’s needs, goals, wishes and expectations is one of the key elements in the war for talents to gain competitive advantages in the industry. The survey will be carried out by our Talent Management partner PwC in cooperation with specific industriy partners.
3. Young Talents
The World Tourism Forum Lucerne enjoyed remarkable success when it expanded the Young Talents Programme as part of its second event in April 2011. The programme offered seven selected tourism students (Young Talents) from the Forum’s partner universities the opportunity to participate in the Forum. They were purposefully integrated into the programme of the Forum. Additionally, they got the unique chance of participating in a tailor-made career planning workshop, had a paper discussion session and various informal talks with tourism and hospitality CEOs in relaxed environments. The Gala Diner was totally dedicated to Talent Management, where the best Young Talents were awarded with very attractive prizes. The three days of the Forum gave the Young Talents myriads of attractive opportunities to launch their professional career.
Due to the very positive feedback from the Young Talents Programme, the Young Talents programme will once again be an important element at World Tourism Forum 2013. World Tourism Forum 2013 is looking forward to inviting the best tourism students of our partner universities to the Forum. Our partner universities are an exclusive circle of chosen schools, which are all high-ranked. The awarded Young Talents will gain a thorough understanding of the topic discussed at Forum 2013, which is “sustainability in tourism”. The intense exchanges of ideas with managers from all over the world will be enormously enriching and will help the Young Talents to further develop their personal network.
