Joseph E. Gaukler, Executive Director, UBS Global Asset Management, Portfolio Manager – European Hotel Fund

Joseph Gaukler has been involved in a wide range of commercial real estate operations in virtually all property types since 1973. He has been directly involved in hotel asset management for over 20 years, his hotel experience includes acquisition, asset management, renovation, redevelopment and disposition. Most recent projects include the complete repositioning of the Westin Galleria Hotel in Dallas, major remodelling of the Oakbrook Marriott in the Chicago area, acquisition and repositioning of the Denver Grand Hyatt and following the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina preservation and restoration of the Omni Royal Orleans and the Royal Sonesta in the French Quarter of New Orleans.
Joseph Gaukler joined the Firm’s predecessor organization in 1982 and opened the Firm’s first real estate regional field office in Dallas, where he was responsible for asset management and sales. Before joining, he was involved in commercial brokerage as well as building & land development.

Joseph Gaukler is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) and the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP). He is a past chairman of the NAIOP Investment Management Forum.
