Duncan Pollard, Director of Conservation Practice & Policy, WWF International
Duncan Pollard has an honours degree in Forestry from Aberdeen University in Scotland, and is a qualified Chartered Forester and Chartered Environmentalist.
He started his career in the forestry industry in South Africa and Scotland, and in 1985 he joined Shell International where he worked on a wide variety of feasibility studies and investment projects in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. From 1989 to 1994 he worked in Shell's operations in Latin America, and in 1995 he joined Scottish Woodlands Ltd, a forestry management company in Scotland, as Development Manager. In 2001, Duncan joined WWF International as Head of the European Forest Programme, and in 2006 he became the Director of the Forests for Life Programme.
In July 2007 Duncan became the Director of Conservation Practice & Policy at WWF International, a unit that encompasses the global programmatic and policy work within WWF International on forests, freshwater, oceans, species, climate and energy. WWF has a long history of collaborating with and influencing the corporate sector, including work on tourism setting best practice standards.
